What does it mean to develop new artistic strategies and language that defines what unites and challenges us as a society?
This For Freedoms Town Hall invites a group of artists from different disciplines including theater, dance, visual art, public art, and music to explore creative ways of engaging with civic identity, challenging traditional symbols, and rethinking what patriotism can look like in our modern world. Live performance excerpts from American Patriots provides attendees with an unflinching look at the lived reality of American Ideals today. Artists and cultural organizers Holly Bass, Helena Huang, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Miguel Luciano, and Samantha Williams will follow with a discussion on how the language and interpretations of patriotism can be rebranded, subverted, and redefined through artistic expressions.
The Town Hall event is part of ongoing programming within the three-year residency with For Freedoms produced by GW Corcoran School and the National Gallery of Art.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, we strongly encourage you to RSVP.

American Patriots is a theatrical song-cycle that captures the contemporary American zeitgeist from four vastly different perspectives: African-American, Native American, New American, and white Working-Class American. The show asks us to actively examine the way we think about race, class, and who this country is for; and to gain perspective into the lives of other Americans we may not have previously identified with.
Featuring newly commissioned songs (texts taken from contemporary interviews of 50 Americans from across the Nation), American Patriots takes an unflinching look at the lived reality of American Ideals today. The five composers' unique styles create a dynamic auditory experience that reflects the diversity of this country: at times classical, jazzy, Broadway, funny, serious, and alarming, but always engaging and unexpected.
Workshop presentation March 14th, 15th, and 16th at the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA.

Stay tuned for the next iteration of Annie’s solo show, Piaf Lives!

Directed by GR42's Award-Winning impresario Daniel Dunlow, "Serving You Sondheim" is an evening of your favorite Sondheim torch songs, group numbers, hidden gems, and epic musical masterpieces. Featuring the singing servers of The Green Room 42 from Broadway, Film, TV, and beyond, Serving You Sondheim is the recurring juggernaut of the season at Broadway's newest, funkiest cabaret club.
First performed in 1916, the one-act drama tells the story of two women faced with the decision of whether to uphold the law, or protect one of their own. Glaspell's compact and emotionally-charged work delivers a vivid portrait of rural life at the turn of the century, and brings the hardships silently borne by women to the forefront. The Shrill Collective expands upon the original text, interweaving folk music and giving voice to the play's unseen central figure, Minnie Wright.
In this immersive new adaptation, Annie lends her voice to the Nebraska Nightingales and plays guitar and accordion.
